History of Photography
There are many people who were involved in the invention of photography. Someone who played a huge role in photography was Joseph Nicephore Niepce. He created the first photographic image with a camera obscura. His heliographs (sun prints) were the prototype for modern photography. What he did was he carved an engraving on a metal piece, covered with bitumen. The white lights permitted light to react and the picture took eight hours for light exposure, but it faded away quickly. Another man who helped with the invention of photography was Louis Daguerre. He was a Frenchman who created the daguerreotype. It took him about twelve years to keep a photo that lasted less than thirty minutes. Another man, who wasn't well-known, Professor J. Schulze, accidentally created a photographic image. He was experimenting something else, when he mixed chalk with nitric acid and silver, the sun beamed onto the mixture and it darkened. Years later, Thomas Wedgwood followed Schulze’s discovery and created an image that faded away very quickly. Photography is an amazing thing that changed our lives, and the many people who helped with the invention were very creative and intelligent to make this happen!
After the 1800’s, it started to become modern photography. This is when photography started to become very popular. First of all, in the 1900’s, Man Ray began to make photograms. They were also called rayographs, and how they used it was they placed objects on photographic paper and it casted a shadow from a distant light bulb. There were many new inventions that added onto photography, made by many inventors. The many inventors joined and made photo companies, such as Fuji. Fuji is a very successful company that made cameras and lenses in addition to film. The film was made by Kodak. Actually, the first roll-film camera was made by them! It was called the Kodak Brownie Box roll-film camera. People many years ago and today are still very thankful for the brilliant inventors who used their time and energy to experiment and make photography happen!
